Dr. Suzen Gregersen, DVM, MBA,
Hospice & Emergency Vet
Managing Director & Founder
Having started Vets2Home in
2005 with Alex Gravett (vet nurse), Suzen (veterinary surgeon) re-started Peaceful
Pet Goodbyes on her own in 2012, dedicating all her time (24/7) to just
providing end-of-life and hospice care to companion animals and their
families. She has been honoured to receive an overwhelming welcome by the pet
owning community and from veterinary colleagues alike ever since.
says: "Even after a neighbor's rather unsociable Golden Retriever seriously bit
my lip, narrowly avoiding my nose, at age 4 leaving me with a permanent
facial scar, I was always an unstoppable animal lover - of most members of
the animal kingdom. I suspected I wanted to somehow help animals for a living
ever since, from age 8, I was often late for school in the mornings as too
busy "saving herds of slugs" get safely off the busy pavement after
a big rainfall. If I hadn't been fortunate to make it through vet school in
Denmark, I suspect I would probably now be a volunteer at some Greek, Thai or
Haitian animal rescue center. Or an Orangutan, Gorilla or Elephant sanctuary
somewhere distant, warm and exotic."
"However, reality caught up with me and after my very first experience of
letting my only childhood dog (a poodle!) be euthanised on a clinical, steel
table at the (otherwise lovely) vets, this profound experience and working as
a human carer to geriatric two-legged patients with Alzheimer's, severe
disabilities and dementia while a vet student, finally lead me to my
"calling" of actively helping our companion animals have the
respectful end of life they truly deserve."
"To be able to give our animals a peaceful and dignified end at home is an
honour and a privilege and has come full circle for me as I feel I am giving
back to them what they - and their families - deserve the most: their dignity,
freedom and to find peace at home. I truly feel I am sparing animals from
suffering every day - and isn't that a true blessing, a heartfelt gift we
give to them?
not on the road, I share my blessed life with my teenage daughter, Amanda,
our two lovely rescue dogs, Sundae and Romeo, who travel with me in the car
on cooler days and two cute cats, Dolly and Spike (who usually stay at home)
but who daily remind me exactly why
I do what I do...Đ"
